Man injured while protecting daughter from robber
Investigators are on the hunt for a man who harmed a dad trying to protect his baby during a robbery.
The victim was slashed across his back by a masked robber in Bournville.
The attacker threatened to harm the 22-month-old girl in Hawthorne Road yesterday (August 31).
The man, in his 30s, spotted a weapon in the would-be robber’s arms and stood over the pram to ensure the baby was safe.
He was then slashed across his back but thankfully his injuries were not serious.
The attacker fled the scene empty-handed and a knife was later discovered in the area.
Our officers are examining CCTV and carrying out further enquiries to identify him.
Patrols in the area have been stepped up, police confirm. They are asking any witnesses to contact 101.
Detective Sergeant Marc Petford, from force CID, said:
“This was a terrifying situation as the victim was left fearing for the safety of his daughter and himself. It’s important we identify this man as soon as possible.”
