Society Nightclub licence under review after stabbing
A club in Wolverhampton city centre has been temporarily stripped of its licence following a stabbing and disorder at the premises last weekend.
Society Nightclub, formerly known as Fixxion, will be shut for up to 28 days, pending a full review, following the incident in the early hours of Sunday (24 March).
Officers were called to the club off Skinner Street just before 3am. A man in his 30s received a stab wound to his torso. He received treatment for knife injuries and was later discharged from hospital.
Police served the application immediately after the incident, which remains under investigation. A full review will take place in due course.
Sergeant Steph Reynolds from the Licensing Team, said:
“The safety of the general public is paramount and cannot be compromised.
“Knife crime has no place in Wolverhampton, we have a diverse and immersive nightlife, which people should be able to come and enjoy without fear of violence.
“The review will seek to find a solution that prevents further violence. This is the first time the club has had their licence reviewed and we’re hopeful that they will be able to reopen with new, more stringent conditions in place.”
Investigations remain ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information.
