ROMANIAN gang suspected of burglary down on remand
Five Romanians suspected of plundering hundreds of West Midlands homes on seasonal burglary sprees from their homeland have been remanded in custody, after arrests by West Midlands Police.
Catalin Zaharia and Constantin Stoian, both aged 29, Marian Molocia (27), Daniel Stoean (35) and 27-year-old woman Florina Spiru all appeared at Birmingham Crown Court today (9 Jan) charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.
They were part of a sophisticated burglary gang that took advantage of darker nights between November and January to target affluent properties, on the hunt for jewellery and other valuables, before flying back to Romania in the New Year, it is alleged.
The date of the conspiracy they’ve been charged with stretches from 2015 to 10 December 2018 when the group were arrested.
They struck at hundreds of homes in the West Midlands and into parts of West Mercia, Staffordshire and Gloucestershire, according to claims.
Following today’s hearing they were remanded into prison and are next scheduled to appear back at Birmingham Crown Court on 5 April for a plea and case management hearing.
The five defendants will be back at Birmingham Crown Court on April 5
