Four men charged after a vehicle went the wrong way down the M5 and M6

Four men have been charged after a stolen Ford Fiesta was driven the wrong way down the M5 and M6 and through red lights while police pursued the vehicle.

The men were arrested on Sunday (28/10) and have all been charged with two counts of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

Charles Ward, aged 38 from Summerhill Road, Tipton, was also charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Francis Ward, aged 24 of no fixed abode, was charged with dangerous driving and no insurance. He has also been charged, alongside 45-year-old John Quillan, from Corporation Street, Walsall with failing to provide a mandatory drugs test and going equipped to steal.

A 17-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, has an additional charge of possession of cannabis.

All four men appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court yesterday (30 October). Both Charles and Francis Ward have been remanded, Quillan has been bailed with conditions and the 17-year-old has been remanded into the care of the local authority.
