Tipton Road fatal collision: detectives appealing for witnesses

Detectives are investigating after a lorry driver died on Tuesday morning (23/10/18) after the lorry he was driving collided with a tree off the Birmingham New Road in Tipton at 8.30am.

Despite the best efforts of West Midlands Ambulance staff, he sadly died at the scene. The road was closed in both directions while the scene was examined.

Anyone who was there or who saw anything are urged to contact officers.

Detective Constable Mat Leeming from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“I’d appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us to get in touch.

“There may also be motorists who’ve captured the incident on dash-cams and if so I would be keen to hear from them.

“A man has lost his life and our thoughts are with his family who are being supported by one of our specialist officers.”
